22 January 2012, Tails of Adirondacks & Club Meeting
- In attendance: Mercedes, Austin, Megan, Clarissa, Rayanna, Ryley, Jasmine, Jodi, and Kayla
- Tails of the Adirondacks: First we went to Tails of the Adirondacks to meet Ms. Sue, the owner. She matched the money we earned for the meals on wheels pet food fundraiser, so we were able to get so much dog food to donate to the Pets of Meals on Wheels participants. Ms. Sue introduced us to her dog, which did some tricks for us. Ms. Sue also answered a lot of our dog related questions.

- Meeting at 4H building: We then met at the 4H building for our regular meeting. The 4Hers who did not complete the dry erase board last meeting worked on that. Megan and Austin worked on 4H paperwork (a fundraising request for Tractor supply bake sale and a summary sheet of our fundraising for the Meals on Wheels pet food). Ryley worked on a bracelet to enter into the fair. Other 4Hers worked on their green cards for the Dry erase board they completed and then had the option to work on a bracelet.
Items discussed at meeting:
- Dog sled training opportunity with Ms. Trish (Tuesdays at Fair Ground at 5, dress warm)
- Next community service project will be to volunteer at the Adirondack Humane Society
- Fundraising at the Tractor Supply on Saturday February 11 from 10 to 2. Each family please make 2 types of treats to sell and package for the sale. Make animal treats as well as human treats as the animal treats sold great last year. Two shifts: 10-12 and 12-2.
- Public presentations have been moved to March 10. A workshop on public presentations will be held February 4 from 10-2 at 4H building. Register for workshop by January 30 (call office).
- March Dog Madness is a 4H state conference for dogs at Cornell University. Most likely March 17. Usually drive down on Friday night and stay over the the conference and drive back home Saturday night. The 4Hers can apply for scholarship money to help with the costs. Need to apply for the scholarship a month before the event (no later than February 17). The scholarship application requires that 4Hers submit their portfolios. 4Hers should be working on portfolios and be updating them regularly. Portfolio print outs were handed out.
- Winter Poultry Clinic to be held Saturday, January 28 from 3-5m at the North Country Alliance Church (7 Northern Ave, Plattsburgh). One item to be discussed is how to build your own incubator.
- Next meeting is February 5 from 1-4 at 4H building (CCE building) to make dog treats for our bake sale. UPDATE: This has been postponed.
